We chose a Native American theme for these pages because that culture practiced a spiritual oneness with each other and their planet which parallels our own beliefs.. Long considered pagan and savage by the white settlers in this country, they prayed regularly to their Great Spirit and the spirit of their ancestors for guidance, much as we pray to the spirit of our deity.. They had shamans, we have priests or ministers, they had their spirits of the waters and air, we have patron saints of this and that.. Were they really pagans.?? This person thinks not.. But the so-called civilized settlers here were well versed in one trait the Native American Indian disdained with a passion. That trait was, and unfortunatelystill is, hypocrisy. It is indeed unfortunate that today's world is rife with this trait. We prefer a simpler life of honesty, love and a spiritual oneness with our God, each other, our family, our friends, our planet. We look forward to the day the rest of the world can join us. In the meantime, we wish you pleasant dreams.

"Legend of the Dream Catcher"There are many Native American stories which speak of the Dream Catcher. It is believed that the night air is filled with dreams, both good and bad. The Ojibway believed that good dreams were the source of all wisdom. One tradition was to hang a dream catcher by their sleeping place. As the dream catcher hung freely in the air it caught the dreams as they floated by. Good dreams knew the way and slipped through the center hole, and gathered the good energy from the beads and adornments as they then slid down off the soft feathers so gently that many times the sleeper below didn't know they were dreaming. The bad dreams, not knowing the way got entangled in the web where they perished in the new day sun."Gaa wiin daa-aangoshkigaazo ahaw enaabiyaan gaa-inaabid." [Chippewa Translation: "You can not destroy one who has dreamed a dream like mine."] |
